Going back to the roots...

I always loved camping since I was a child when I used to go with my father and the students from the University he works in. Unfortunately it is not a common activity back home, and I had only a few opportunities to go camping... But here in Canada it is THE thing to do.

It is the second time I go camping here. First trip we went to "French river", a beautiful large river crossing rocky landscape...

This time we went to Algonquin Park north east of Toronto. The park is huge, on the map it is really impressing. Mainly when you spend 6 hours on a canoe to go from a point to another, then you see that on the map and you figure out that what you did was ridiculous.

The landscape is different from French river, you have a multitude of landscapes, swamps, rivers, lakes, thick forests ...We saw a big moose on the way, he was Imperturbable, still eating his large set of plants while we were advancing slowly not to frighten him... But he wasn't frightened at all, he was just looking at us as to say: you fool humans get out of here :)

unfortunately no body had a camera with him at that time, we left them all at the camping spot. We were also overwhelmed by the beaver's dams we found on our way, you have to stop every time to pull the canoe. And it is not funny anymore after the 6th dam when you have hours of canoeing behind you...

it was a great week end, it is amazing how mother nature can be so beautiful...

Ibn Baddouda's first note

That's my first entry in a blog... This weird name I gave to my blog comes from "Ibn Battouta": a famous arab traveler and writer of the 14th century, he recorded his travels in a book called Rihla which means journey... and it looks pretty much to what I am doing right now.

So far I had the chance to experience living in different countries, it started with Turkey (Ankara) 2 months in 2001, then Spain (Valladolid) 7 months in 2003-2004 and now Canada since March 2005.

I love living these different experiences and I hope it won't stop soon and that I'll have the chance to experience living in other coutnries and visit as many places as possible, so far I could go to Malta, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Spain, France and Canada

It is nice to share my life with you guys, I hope you enjoy yourself as much as I am enjoying writing in this blog.

Salam

Anis
